Picnic Foods - Provencal Tartlets And Herby Gouda Turnovers

Pastry dishes are thorough for picnics. You can have them with your hands, dispensing with the need for cutlery, but you should possibly smarten things up by serving them on a plate alongside a lovely pile of new salad. These 3 foods shall suit whatever kind of picnic you choose!. For the pastry:100 g or 4oz Wholewheat flour100 g or 4oz Plain flour100 g or 4oz margarine or margarineCold h2o to mixPinch of salt. For the filling:1 dark brown pepper1tbls olive oil500g or 1lb onions, sliced1 clove garlic, chopped225g or 8oz baby plum or cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered1 tsp tomato paste1 tsp dried basilRoughly 15 pitted black olives, halvedSalt and black pepper.



Set stove to 180C, 350F, gas 4, and grease 5 seven tartlet tins. Make the pastry: Sieve the flours into a container with the pepper shaking in any bran which does not leave through the sieve. Rub within the margarine or margarine until the mix resembles fine breadcrumbs. Sum enough cold h2o to make a firm dough. Roll out the pastry and slice circles to line the tartlet tins.



Chargrill the pepper beneath a warm grill. When the skin is black, let to cold and remove the skin. Put the olive oil in a pan, heat and sum the onion and bake for a couple of minutes. Sum the garlic, tomatoes, pepper and tomato paste. Stir and bake for another 4 - six periods until the tomatoes begin soften.

For the Filling:125g or 5oz cream Cheese1 tblsp new chopped chives and or or spring onions1 tblsp new chopped parsley1 or 3 tsp nutmegSalt and new ground black pepper Little milk should be wanted to combine the filling. Preheat the stove to 180C or Gas 4, and grease a boiling tray. To make the filling, beat the cheddar until it is smooth and sum little milk if it seems too dry.



Stir within the other ingredients. Roll out the pastry barely thinly on a floured surface. Slice into squares about 10cm or 4in. Place a heaped tsp regarding the filling into the middle of each square. Brush the edges regarding the pastry with h2o and fold the pastry over to shape a triangle.



Press the edges well together. Brush the tops with milk and location on the boiling tray. Bake within the stove for about 30 periods until the pastry is a light brown. Cool prior to wrapping and transporting. For more picnic foods look offmotorway.
